Isis and Nequ — Our Servals
Isis was forcibly removed from a private owner in Belgium due to illegal keeping of exotic animals and neglect. Nequ arrived in 2024 after being rescued from poor conditions.
On 4 July 2021, Isis was forcibly removed from a private owner in Belgium due to illegal keeping of exotic animals and neglect. Belgian police brought her to our partner Natuurhulpcentrum, and since we had just lost our previous female serval, we agreed to give Isis a safe and permanent home at Rescue Zoo.
No origin papers came with Isis, but we estimate she is between 5 and 7 years old. She is healthy, looks young, and quickly got into good shape with proper food and care. Servals can live up to 20 years in captivity.
Nequ arrived in March 2024 after being rescued from poor conditions in Belgium, where he had lived in cramped quarters with a man who has since passed away. He was transferred to us by our partner in Belgium. The journey home to Rescue Zoo went well, and Nequ is now safe and receiving all the love and care he needs.
Nequ is slightly smaller than average, and you can clearly see that he has had a tough start in life. He has nicks in his ears and looks a little rough, but he is improving and is now getting to know both us and his new surroundings.
Isis and Nequ each have their own indoor enclosure but share a large outdoor area, which they take turns using. This way, they can get to know each other's scents and habits in a safe environment.
We hope that in time they will be able to thrive in each other's company, but like many servals they are solitary animals, and we of course respect their individual needs.
